Associate of Science- The Associate of Science (AS) degree is a two-year degree that provides a general liberal arts education. An AS degree helps a student gain useful career skills, and is also designed to serve as a stepping stone into a bachelor’s program at a four-year college or university. AA/AS degrees must fulfill Ohio Transfer 36, a set of 36-40 semester (54-60 quarter) hours of general education courses distributed among the following categories: English composition and oral communication; mathematics, statistics and logic; arts and humanities; social and behavioral sciences; and natural sciences. Institutions receiving AS transfer students who have completed Ohio Transfer 36 may, however, have additional general education and pre-major requirements. Students who intend to transfer should consult the receiving institution to ensure maximum applicability of credits.
